What is the epithesis?
Epitheses are cosmetic replacements of body parts the aim of which is to reconstitute physical appearance. The silicon epitheses are the most realistic ones. These medical devices are custom-made for patients who have suffered the loss of a body part due to injury, oncological disease, surgery or congenital deformity and need, for example, a silicon finger, silicon ear, silicon nose, or others.
Why are epitheses used?
Silicon replacements are appropriate in cases of tissue loss which cannot be restored surgically. The main benefits of these medical devices include recovery of the natural physical appearance and prevention of social isolation. Many of our patients who have suffered injuries in an accident and have thereby lost part of a finger or fingers request the design of a silicon finger, mostly to cover a cosmetic defect.
How realistic does the silicon replacement look?
The design of the silicon finger, nose, ear and other silicon epitheses is a craft requiring precision and delicacy. We pay great attention to the design of anatomic details such as nails, eyebrows, eyelashes and specific characteristics of the skin. All of these have an impact on the natural appearance and reliability of the silicon replacements.

Colouring
Designer colouring is a pre-condition for a reliable colour design of the silicon replacement and its optimal correspondence and aesthetic similarity to the lost body part.
